Egg by Eagle

A knowledge of Paint Shop Pro is needed to do this tut. The instructions describe using stencils to create eggs by coloring portions of the stencils.

Right click and copy the egg on the right. Paste as a new layer your your PSP workspace.

Layer/Promote Background Layer

We are working large and will resize later.

Since this is going to be a sampler of sorts, we will not do each fill sample on a different layer.

Normally when I do stencils, I promote each selection to a layer. Many times I do one fill and find I want to change it later. I save it as a .psp and when I am ready to save I use Edit/Copy merged and Paste as a new image, and save that. If you want to do each of these on a different layer, name each layer by glass fill name or part it is; leaves, rose, and so on.

Right click to save stencil

Decide what color you want to work with first and what area. Say it is the leaves and you are going to do them all with this setting.

Material Palette Settings

I do it this way, Magic Wand selecting the areas to be flood filled, so I can make that selection a layer. If you do not want to work with layers, skip the magic wand selection part and just flood fill each area by clicking in them with the flood fill tool.

Making a Selection - Layers Method

First select the areas

With your Magic Wand
Mode: Add
Match Mode: RBG
Tolerance:10 (adjust as needed)

Click inside all of the areas you want to color green.

With your Flood Fill Tool and Materials palette set to the fill you want to use, click inside the selected areas.

If you wanted to work on layers, this is when I promote Selection to Layer. Otherwise you could just flood fill inside the areas you wanted and the black line would be the selected area.

If any marching ants are still running around, Hit CRTL+D to deselect them.

Break in Line
If you click inside a part to be filled and the ants run outside, as in the example, undo that wand. Zoom in and see where there is a break in the line.

Fill in
Zoom in on the area and you can see where the break in the line is. Use your brush tool set at Size 1 and black and fill in the broken line.

Background Fill 1

Set your Foreground to a gradient
    Style: Sunburst

You can also change the focal and center points.

Once you have your egg ready for saving, decide if it is going on a white background or a colored. If a colored, you will want to make the white outside the egg transparent. You could have made it on the color of the background to start with also.

With your dropper tool, right click on the white outside the egg. That is to set the background color.

Image/Palette/Set Palette Transparency
Pick "Set the transparency value to the current background color"

To check it: Image/Palette/View Palette transparency

Gold Edging - You would want to try this before you start to fill.

If you want the black to be gold filled or any other leading, set your foreground/Stroke to a gold pattern With the Flood fill tool, click on the black lines. With this egg stencil you will have to click more than once on them because they are not all connected.
